This 3D computer generated eye model has been virtually dissected to better diplay the light-sensitive retina.  Here it  reflects a reddish-orange hue when light is shined onto it.  The rods and cones that distinguish colors and black and white are located on this thin membrane that lines the inside of the eye.  Arteries and veins course over it's surface among areas of greater or lesser sensitivity.
